Employers preparing for the H2-B process should follow a structured timeline to help keep applications moving forward:
- Provide Ed White at least 6-8 months before your need for workers with a completed H2 Seasonal Intake Form and documentation of temporary need based on past hiring or revenues
- Obtain Prevailing Wage Determination, 3-6 months out
- File Application for Temporary Employment Certification, 90-75 days out
- Place Job Order and conduct recruitment, 2-3 weeks
- Submit recruitment summary report to DOL
- Based on DOL certification, immediately file an H-2B Petition with USCIS with Premium Processing, 15 days in most cases
- Coordinate consular visa appointment scheduling upon petition approval and/or arrange worker relocation if already in the U.S.
- Complete visa issuance and travel in compliance with H-2B regulations
